My computer was a term that was magical in the 1990s, you had to pay Rs 10 per hour to play Road rash or do just create a new email ID to send a mail to no one in particular.
But with positives of the computer world came the negatives of physical discomfort. The computer is now, a necessity and very much part of our daily life. So the complaints of neck pain, back pain, wrist pain, tingling and numbness of fingers, etc are very common amongst us.
So the question arises, “How best should I avoid these problems without compromising my work”?.
The answer is a good working posture. For this, we require two important things
▪️ A good chair
▪️ A good desk
A GOOD CHAIR
i. Height adjustable
ii. Rigid backrest with lumbar support (to maintain the curvature of the lower back) and headrest
iii. Appropriate width of a seat
iv. Five starred castors (wheel attached to the leg of the chair) base.
v. Breathable fabric
A GOOD DESK
i. The computer monitor should be placed at an arm’s distance
ii. The screen should not have glare from a nearby window or any other light source.
iii. The foot should be properly planted flat on the ground with hips and knees bent at 90 degree
iv. Elbows should rest on the armrest at around 90 degree
v. The wrist should be straight on the desk
vi. The keyboard should be flat.
vii. The mouse should be at the same level as the keyboard
Divide your desk into:
Usual working area (keyboard, mouse, pen)
Occasional working area (telephone, files)
Nonworking area (for things you use rarely)
P.S.: We should discipline our work so that we take a regular break after 30-40minutes to relax and stretch our muscles which were working.
